History

The Salesian presence in Monvila began in 1990, when a certain Mr T. N. Kuriakose, a Syro Malankara Roman Catholic and a retired Accountant General of Kerala donated 4.10 acres of land for a charitable project for poor youth. Later some more land was purchased making the total land now in the possession of the Salesians in Monvila amount to 6.73 acres. In 1996 the Salesians began the construction for a technical institute. In May 1999 a stable presence was established with a community attached to that of Manacaud. On 8th December 1999, a project for the coaching of school dropouts was inaugurated. The inter-religious composition of the hostel is seen as quite beneficial.

Scope
|
§ Education of drop-outs and street children with emphasis on technical education following the system and charism of Don Bosco
§ To form the youth to responsible citizenship who appreciate whatever is good and noble in the multi-cultural aspects of Indian life; to educate the young to be promoters of justice and peace in imitation of Christ.
§ To help the young to draw up a project of life with the plan of God and guide the individuals to master academic, technical and vocational skills to help him/her earn a living
§ To impart universal and Christian values
