History
|
The foundation-stone of Don Bosco – Mysore, was laid on 15th August 1990, and from 1992 to 1997, it functioned as the aspirantate of the Karnataka region of the province. In June 1997 it became the pre-novitiate house of the province and the aspirantate was shifted to Tumkur. The house is situated on a well-cultivated 8-acre plot of land on the outskirts of Mysore, with a spacious and functional building having good facilities.

Scope
|
The pre-novitiate aims:
§ To prepare the candidates to the Salesian life to discern their call and prepare to enter the novitiate.
§ To give the candidate the possibility of maturing as a man and a Christian by making living contact with the Salesian life and reflecting on it, getting to know his own vocation, deepening his vocational choice and verifying his suitability for beginning the novitiate.
§ To give an apostolic dimension to the candidate to religious life and further explore his leadership qualities, gifts and talents.
§ To bring about an integration of the candidates hailing from the two regions of Karnataka and Kerala thereby providing the possibility for psychological maturity, self-awareness, emotional stability, openness to change and the formation of a disciplined mind.
