On the occasion of the conclusion of the month of the Holy Rosary on 31 October, 17 women made their commitment to belong to the Association of the Devotees of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), during the Holy Eucharist here presided by their animator, Fr. Alex Kalathikattil. At the request of the existing group of Salesian Cooperators who felt that they could live up to the spirit of ADMA more efficaciously than as Cooperators, their local animator Fr. Alex invited the province spiritual animator of ADMA, Fr. Joe Kallupurackakam to initiate them into this association. These women underwent a yearlong preparation with prayer and reflection and finally made their pledge to live in the Salesian Family as witnesses to Christ. The following three are the responsibilities and commitments assumed by them:
1. A due esteem for and participation in liturgical life, in harmony with the Church of which Mary is the type and figure; and in particular for the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, and in the practice of a personal Christian life;
2. Living and spreading devotion to Mary Help of Christians in accordance with Don Bosco’s spirit, in particular in the Salesian Family;
3. Praying for and supporting lay, religious and ministerial vocations in the Church and in the Salesian Family in particular.
