On 9th August 2017, The students of philosophy at Don Bosco College, Aluva took part in the annual debate on the theme “GST a Boost for the Development of India.” Fr. Francis Vattukulathil, the Rector, welcomed the distinguished judges Fr. Joby CST, Fr. Shabin CST and Sr. Kanti SD. Fr. Joy Kaipan, the principal was the moderator for the event. It was an intellectual exercise for the students to evaluate and raise their ‘for and against’ opinions about GST. The students actively participated in this academic event. There were five constructive speeches for and against the motion respectively. The constructive speeches were well researched and powerfully delivered. A floor debate was conducted which gave the students to raise questions and seek answers. The debate came to an end with the two rebuttal speeches from both the motions respectively. Bro. Chinnappa Sachin emerged as the best speaker of the day, while Bro. Lijo Chakkalayil emerged the runner-up. In the final tallying the group that spoke vehemently for the motion bagged the first prize.
