Blessing and Inauguration of the Basket Ball court:

January 23, 2010 was an unforgettable day in the history of Don Bosco Tumkur. We inaugurated the new Basket Ball court with the blessing of Fr. Provincial and there was an exhibition match between the staff and the PU students. The construction was meticulously planned so as to fit an academic perfection. Later there was a tournament in which 8 neighbouring schools took part. The match went on till evening. Students of Bishop Sergeant School (High School level) & St. Mary’s School (Juniors) secured the first place in the first Don Bosco Basket Ball Tournament.

Parents’ Day:

On 23rd evening we had the Parents day of the aspirants. We had cultural programmes. The preparatory course had put up a comedy drama “Undadi Gunda Hotte Tumba Unda,” and it was appreciated by the parents and neighbours. The programme was attended by the neighbouring children too. It lasted for a few hours. Most of the parents had turned up for the meeting. They were 49 in number, including children. The first day of the ‘Parents Day’ concluded with the praying of the Rosary cum Eucharistic Adoration in which the staff and students participated. The following day we had the Holy Eucharist at 7.30 a.m. and at 9.30 we began the animation programme. Fr. Rector gave the inaugural talk for the parents. Later they were animated by Fr. Udaykumar, on the theme of “the Role of Parents in the Formation of the Seminarians.” After the programme the parents met Fr. Rector, Fr. Johnson KP and Fr. Tomy. The Parents’ Day was concluded with the solemn lunch.

Inauguration of the Past Pupils’ Unit:

On January 24, 2010 at 3.00 in the afternoon we had the Gathering of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco School, Tumkur. This was the first time we began the Past Pupils’ gathering and there was a good response from them. 90 students from the past three batches were present. They were animated by Fr. Emmanuel (Rector) and Fr. Tomy (Principal). The gathering lasted for a few hours. After the tea at 04.30 p.m., the students departed with fond memories.
