BOSCO (Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota), an NGO working with the underprivileged children and youth, organized Children’s Day celebration at BOSCO Mane, Chamarajpet, Bangalore, on November 7, 2017. Children’s Day celebration at BOSCO was based on the theme, ‘Save Earth – Save Children’.
Suresh Heblikar, Film Maker, Director, Actor, Kannada Film Industry and Environmentalist spoke on the theme ‘Save Earth – Save Children’. He gave message on environmental conservation through activities to create an eco-conscious culture which will help protect and improve existing ecological and environmental conditions in both urban and rural areas.
Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bangalore in his introductory words said that the need of the hour is to protect children through conservation of earth. A Kannada educational, science documentary on big bang theory, origin of solar system and life on earth – ‘Bhoomi Huttiddu Hege’ was screened, followed by a quiz competition for the children.
Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Italy, exhorted the children to be enthusiastic about their life. Theme based cultural programmes by children and an entertainment program by Siddu and Team was held. Children and stakeholders who have played key roles in the protection and promotion of child rights at the centers and areas of BOSCO were awarded with Prathibha Puraskara and Makkala Mitra Award respectively. Over five hundred children from the various centres of BOSCO and localities of service participated in the event.
