Vaduthala Salesian Garden

Vaduthala Dec 18The Salesian Community of Don Bosco, Vaduthala celebrated on 18th December 2009, with utmost solemnity, the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Salesian congregation. The solemn Eucharistic celebration of the day was held at 06:30AM at the shrine of Our Lady of Thattazham, in the presence of faithful numbering around 500. The Salesians themselves animated the Eucharistic Celebration, with thought-provoking introductions, prayer of the faithful, offertory procession … etc. Fr. Devassy Chirackel (Rector) presided over the Solemn Eucharistic celebration and all the other priests of the community concelebrated. Other than the members of the community there was also Br. Mathew Aayila of the province of East Africa. After the homily by Fr. Rector, all the Salesians knelt together in front of the altar and pronounced the formula of renewal. After the renewal all the Salesians went up to the altar to sign the constitutions as a symbolic act of our self-surrender. After the Eucharistic celebration and the Christmas novena sweets were distributed to all those who attended the function. Special care was taken to ensure the presence of as many faithful as possible especially the altar boys, the youngsters from the youth centre and the children of our school as this would be an act of witness for them. The celebrations were over by 08:00AM.

The Salesian Garden at the Shrine of Thattazhathamma

To mark the 150th anniversary of the Foundation of Salesian Congregation, the community of Don Bosco Vaduthala prepared a Salesian garden at the Shrine of Thattazhathamma. The garden consists of an exhibition of the life and mission of the Salesian Congregation, the Life of Don Bosco, famous quotes of Don Bosco, Various important Salesian events and the life of all the Saints, Blesseds and venerables of the Salesian family. This was indeed a very informative and devotional exhibition proclaiming the apostolic holiness of our society. Many parishioners, people of the locality, children of the school and friends of our institution are flocking to see the well-prepared Salesian garden at Don Bosco Vaduthala.
