Rev. Fr. Francesco Cereda, the General Councilor for Formation, was the chief guest for the Marian Assumption and the Indian Independence celebrated at Don Bosco, Mysore. The Salesian pre-novitiate community offered a cheerful welcome to Fr Cereda, accompanied by Fr. Thomas Koonan, the Vice Provincial. Soon after lunch, the pre-novices proudly offered the visitor a tour of their home and surroundings. Later he separately spoke to them as well as the members of the staff about the vision of the Salesian congregation for pre-novitiate formation. Neighbouring communities of various religious congregations assembled in large numbers at Don Bosco hall in the evening of August 14th to share the joyful and hopeful message of the twin celebrations. Fr Cereda presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration the next morning, and witnessed with much delight also the flag hoisting ceremonies. Before the community hurried off to Mysore city to organize the Independence Day Celebrations for the children of Don Bosco Makkalaya Project on behalf of the child laboureres of Mysore, the Formation Councilor congratulated the staff and the pre-novices for the Salesian formation being very satisfactorily pursued at the institute.
