During the academic year 2009–2010 Visvadeep catered to the participants of four different courses: 1) MTh in Faith Education and Youth Ministry, a two year course, 2) Diploma in Faith Education and Youth Ministry, a six month course, 3) Basic Course in Theology of three months duration and 4) Audio-Visuals in Pastoral Ministry of one month duration. There were a total of 42 participants who came from various parts of India: 20 priests, 3 brothers and 19 sisters. The priests and brother hailed from 10 different dioceses of India and 4 religious congregations. The sisters belonged to 14 religious congregations. Besides these, 104 students participated in the summer programme conducted in the month of May 2009. Thus the total number of participants who passed out of Visvadeep during the year is 146.
Two short movies prepared by the students of the audiovisual course under the guidance of Fr. Bastin Nellissery SDB, the Unbreakable and Grave Warning were projected. The movies carried the powerful messages of the unbreakable bond of love between the mother and child and the horror of alcoholism. This was followed by words of gratitude from the students and message from Fr. Anton Paul (Principal, Kristu Jyoti College).
The second year MTh students were felicitated by Fr. Thomas Koonan and were offered a cross each as a symbol of being ‘sent out’ as Christ’s faith educators and youth ministers. Fr. May the service that Visvadeep renders in the name of the Salesian Congregation to the Church in India continue to be blessed by Our Lord and Saviour and be made fruitful by His Holy Spirit. May Mary, our Mother and teacher, assist us all in our endeavors as we continue to share the mission of her Son, Jesus.
