| History | Keezhmadu, a little hamlet of fruit-trees, rubber plants and paddy fields, located in the outskirts of Aluva town in Ernakulam district, was originally chosen to house the aspirantate and Pre-Novitiate house for the formation of the candidates to priesthood who would join the Salesians after their secondary education. On 23rd June 1981, under the leadership of Fr.Thomas Myladoor, the Salesians took possession of the place. The original scope of the house was sustained till 1995 when the urgency of a philosophate of our own was felt so stronglyby the Provincial and his council. The request was submitted to the Rector major and his council and with their authorization Don Bosco, Aluva, was founded in 1995 as a post novitiate and studentate of philosophy. |
| Scope | · Don Bosco Aluva is a Salesian community consisting of the Rector, Principal, Faculty members and young Salesians. It has a well-established computerized library with about 11,000 volumes, 25 journals, and a few periodicals. A spacious and well-equipped computer lab and the Football, Basketball, and Volleyball grounds are some of the special features of the College. The College intents: · To form Indian Salesian Priests, offering them a congenial atmosphere for human maturing through the study of religion, Philosophy and Humanities. · To form a critical, realistic, and holistic vision of the world, of the human being and God and nurturing in them an integral personality. To lay a firm foundation for Christian faith, Salesian traditions and higher learning. To integrate intellectual formation with spiritual growth and pastoral experience through an involvement in catechetical activities and youth animation programmes in the Sacred Heart parish as also in the neighbouring parishes. |
