The Annual Meeting of the Salesian Brothers of Bangalore Province was held on October 2nd, 2009, at Don Bosco Novitiate, Padivayal. Nine out of eleven brothers in the province assembled: Bro Shaji Kalavanal and Bro Johnson Kanayanattu could not arrive. The meeting began at 09.30 a.m. with the anthem of the Salesian Brothers. After the words of welcome by Fr Joice, the Novice Master, Fr Thomas Koonan, the Vice-Provincial gave the animation talk: a constructive approach towards Salesian vocation ministry, based on GC 26 – Witness as the first vocational invitation. This was followed by an hour-long interactive session with the novices, in which the brothers shared their inspiring experience of Salesian life.
The Vice-Provincial presided over the Holy Eucharist, and being also the feast of the Guardian Angels, reflected on the pedagogy of Salesian Presence, and pointed out how, without cassock and ritual offices, it was doubly challenging to live the Salesian presence as Salesian Brothers. The Novitiate community, in spite of the rainy weather, made every effort to truly celebrate the presence of Salesian brothers. In the concluding session, held at Don Bosco Sultan Bathery, the brothers paid attention to the implementation of the action plan chalked out at the South Asian Congress of the Brothers. Bro Paul Gopurathinkal is the coordinator of the INK forum of Salesian Brothers.
