The women’s day program was organized on 16-3-2017 in Don Bosco Child Labour Mission, Davangere supported by BREADS Bangalore. The theme of the program was “Be Bold for Change”. It started with the Rally from Mailaralingeshwara temple to Don Bosco Child Labour Mission covering a distance of 1 ½ Km. The Assistant Superintendent of Police Mrs. Yashodha S Wantagode inaugurated the rally by beating the drum. She addressed the gathering in which she exhorted the women to rise up to get their rights and work towards gender equality. The awareness on women’s rights, gender equality, and violence against women was created through the rally. The participants included 50 MSW students from Davangere University, 30 Don Bosco Child Labour Mission staff, 50 SHG members and 10 anganwadi teachers from Davangere, Avargolla, Kakkargolla, Kanchikere, Kodihalli.
In the stage program that followed the rally, the Key note address was given by Y.Ramanaik and the inauguration carried out by Mrs. Rekha Nagaraj- Mayor Municipal Corporation, Davangere. The other dignitaries present were Mr. Gowrang Boro- Railway protection officer, Mr. Chandrappa- Child Development and Protection Officer, Mrs. Prema- DDPI Davangere and Fr. Cyril Sagayaraj- Director Don Bosco Child Labour Mission Davangere.
