The Salesian Co-operators of Don Bosco Vaduthala conducted the 40 hour adoration for the sixth year, and this year, being the year of priests, with the logo, Mane Nobiscum Domine. The Adoration began with the solemn Eucharist at 06:30 a.m., on September 25, presided over by Rt Rev. Dr. Joseph Karikkassery, the Auxiliary Bishop of Verapoly and a Salesian Co-operator himself. In his homily he reminded all the faithful to be ablazed with the spirit of Christ. After the Mass the adoration continued till the adoration in common, 06:30 p.m. – 7. 30 p.m., led by Rev. Fr. Edwin Figurez, a famous retreat preacher. On September 26th, the adoration began with the solemn Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Babu Manissery. Rev. Fr. Joshy Mayyattil, professor of Carmel Giri Seminary, led the adoration in common. On the final day Rev. Fr. Joffie Puthuva opened the adoration with the morning Mass at 06:30 a.m. In the evening after the adoration in common, led by Rev. Fr. Nelson Job OCD, the Director of CRC, Manjummal, there followed the Solemn Eucharistic Procession led by Rev. Fr. Shibu Davis and Rev. Fr. Devassy Chirackel. The 40 hour adoration concluded with the solemn Eucharistic celebration at 7.30 p.m., presided over by Msgr. Sebastian Luis, the Parish Priest of Mount Carmel Church, Chathiath.
Around 70 groups including sisters, fathers, and brothers of various religious congregations, family units, pious associations, charismatic groups, schools, participated in the adoration at various times. Mr. TJ Francis was the convener and Mr. C J Joseph, the coordinator.
For the faithful, this was indeed a Mount Tabor experience during which they met Jesus, enjoyed his loving company, and grew closer to him. It being the year of priests, special prayers were offered for all priests and especially the Salesians of the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore. We congratulate, Rev. Fr. Devassy Chirackel SDB, the Rector and the backbone of this venture, all the Salesian Co-operators and their families for their self-sacrificing efforts to conduct this event in such a devotional manner.
