At present it reaches out to 80 villages in the 3 Taluks of Chitradurga District, i.e., Chitradurga, Hiriyur & Bharamasagara. There are 400 women SHGs, 30 Nirgathikara Sanghas (Destitute Groups), 30 Men SHGs, 25 Youth SHGS, 28 Youth Groups, 15 Farmers Clubs and 32 Puttani Sanghas. There are also 32 Evening tuition Centres or Supervised Study Centres in different villages for the benefit of poor school going children. At the request of the DC, for the last two years, we are running 2 Child Labour Rehabilitation Centres for Child Labourers who have been rescued. We are also running 5 CMRCs (Community Managed Resource Centres) to coordinate and assist the SHGs. As a new venture this year through the Nodal Agency, BOSCO in Bangalore, the Department of Women and Child Welfare Development, Government of Karnataka, has appointed CHITHRA – Don Bosco as the District Cell Bureau for Missing Child Search Net. Through this programme we are happily enabled to assist the Government of Karnataka and the parents to trace the missing children in the district and the State and give them a new life.
