On 21st June 2010, the first unit of the MoRD (Ministry of Rural Development) Project of the South Region was officially inaugurated in a village centre at Cheranallore under Don Bosco Tech, Vaduthala, Kochi. The Official inaugural function began at 10:30am. The Panchayat President of Cheranellore, Mr. A.A. Mathew, presided over the function. Dr. K.S. Radhakrishnan, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Sanskrit University, officially inaugurated the job oriented educational scheme of the MoRD project. Fr. Devassy Chirackal, the Rector of Don Bosco, Vaduthala was the Chief Guest. The programme that lasted for an hour and a half was attended by nearly 60 participants.
The Cheranellore centre is primarily aimed at conducting Computer & IT related courses of the MoRD project. So far nearly 30 BPL students have already registered and we hope to make it 40 within a few days.
On 22nd June 2010, the classes officially started at the centre. First few days are allotted for orientation programmes, soft skills training, language training, etc. Computer class begins with in a week.
