The training of trainers for the MoRD (Ministry of Rural Development) project was inaugurated at Don Bosco Provincial House Bangalore on 24th May 2010. Twenty three trainers came from Karnataka and Kerala to participate in the four days’ training programme. The trainers were interviewed and recruited by the National Office to take the project forward in the province of Bangalore. Fr Joseph Elavanal, the Executive Director of BREADS, welcomed the gathering and explained about the MoRD project which has already been launched in the province. Fr George Mathew, the Provincial Economer, in his speech, exposed the life of Don Bosco and the vision and mission of the Salesian Congregation to the participants who were new to the Salesian world. Fr. Joy Nedumparambil, the Asst Director of BREADS, was also present for the function. Ms. Elizabeth David from DBTech, Delhi and Mr. M. A. Sudheer from DB Hyderabad were the resource persons for the training of the trainers.
The objective of the training programme was to introduce the project to the trainers and to equip them to handle their sessions when they train their students in the various trades in different Don Bosco institutions. The participants with their active involvement and enthusiasm added much energy to the training programme. Each participant had opportunities to conduct mock classes related to their trades and professions. The sessions with a combination of various activities like role plays, games and group discussions have brought out the best in the participants. The training programme came to an end on 28th May 2010.
