Don Bosco Past Pupils, residing in Bangalore, gathered at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore, on January 24th for an informal meeting. The gathering, an initiative of the Salesian Province of Bangalore, brought together about 50 past pupils who had studied in Salesian institutions in various parts of India. After the self-introduction the participants were taken through a presentation on the state of the Salesian Congregation in the world today, with particular reference to India and the Bangalore Province. The Provincial, Rev Fr Thomas Anchukandam, affirmed that the Salesian family had every reason to be proud of the founder, St John Bosco, and of the world acclaim of his Preventive System of Education, based on reason, religion and loving kindness.
During the course of the meeting the past pupils recalled nostalgic memories of their educational experience at Don Bosco Institutions. They unanimously upheld that their Salesian education stands them in good stead in every type life situation. Several avenues of collaboration between the past pupils and Salesians were indicated. The organization of the meeting, coordinated by the Vice-Provincial and the Provincial Economer, was helped by several Salesians and the Bangalore Unit of Don Bosco Past Pupils.
