Summer Camp at Don Bosco Yuvakara Grama, Ajjanahalli (Ramanagar Dt, Karnataka) was organized from April 26 – May 22. During the camp children were given ample opportunities to discover and develop their hidden talents. The camp was a joyful and successful event because the boys showed great interest and enthusiasm in all the activities. They had time to play, to enjoy and to learn a lot through the various programmes and classes.

Everyday morning children had yoga practice followed by morning prayers. In the morning 7:15 – 8: 30 they had coaching for football, volleyball and cricket. It was a great opportunity for the children to improve their skills in games.

From 10.00 – 11.00 a.m. classes were held for English, Mathematics and Kannada. General knowledge classes on various subjects such as historical places, study methods, good manners and personality development were provided. But priority was given for studies.

Creative activities, party songs, party games, outings, sports day and other such interesting games and activities were conducted in the afternoon session. The children were very interactive and jovial during these activities. By playing various games children learned to act with team spirit.

In the evening 7.00 – 8 .00 various competitions were conducted. These really helped the children to discover and develop their hidden talents. Competitions in speech, story telling, dance, song, drama and fashion show were conducted.

The special programmes in the camp included treasure hunt, collage, film, lightening tournament, quiz competitions, sports day, cooking picnic, camp fire and camp picnic. All these programmes provided a sense of belonging to this institution and time of enjoyment and learning.

In the concluding function, Fr. John M.A. was given farewell. Prizes were distributed to the winning teams. As part of the expression of their gratitude, the children expressed their affection and happiness through cultural programmes.

All the members of the staff (Salesians and others including the Volunteers) put in nuch hard work and sacrifice to provide the campers an enjoyable learning experience.
