Sacred Heart Province, Bangalore (INK)
Our Vision and Mission
” We the Salesians of Don Bosco of the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore, in imitation of the compassionate love of the Sacred Heart, commit ourselves to the integral and inclusive development of the youth, especially the poor and the marginalized, and the other disadvantaged sections of society, in collaboration with all those who strive for the realization of the a new society based on the Gospel values of live, peace and justice, in the Don Bosco way.”
Don Bosco, the friend of Youth, lived his life entirely for the welfare of the poor and abandoned youth. Imbibed by this spirit of Don Bosco we make God’s loving presence felt among them in our context. We join in their struggle to have a better future by being present with them and guiding them to reach their goal. We thus become the messengers of hope to the hopeless and sacraments of God’s love to those who have not experienced love.
The Province of Bangalore came into existence on 19th March 1979. The Province, comprising of three states (Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh) of South India in 1979, with 15 houses and 184 members, has made a marvelous growth in the past years. It was bifurcated in 1992 and made Andhra Pradesh into another province and Kerala and part of Karnataka was made into the present Bangalore Province and was dedicated to Sacred Heart.
Now there are 349 members in the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore who reach out to the poorest of the poor through 44 centres spread over the states of Karnataka and Kerala. We become messengers of hope and channels of God’s love to the thousands and thousands of poor people realized through our Mission Centres, Parishes, Trade Schools, Orphanages, Home for the Handicapped, Youth Centres, Social Work Centres, and our Shelters for the Children on the Street.
