26 April 2010: A day of intense reflection and discussion in commissions, presentation and active participation in dialogue, second day of the Provincial Chapter 2010.

The day began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Paul Puthanangady, celebrating his Birthday. Immediately after the Eucharist, all gathered around the tomb of Fr. John Barucci, the day being his death anniversary. Speaking about Fr. Barucci, Fr. Provincial pointed out that he was a genuine Salesian, very humorous and down to earth.

The proceedings of the Chapter began with a short prayer animated by the moderator. It was followed by the roll call and the reading of the minutes. The whole morning was spent on discussions in the various commissions to prepare the first draft document to be presented in the assembly. The presentation of the first commission was made on the theme Implementation of GC-26 (Art. 1-17). The presentation was followed by lively interactions from the assembly. Many important issues and suggestions related to the theme were brought out. These interventions are meant to enrich further discussions in the commissions and the consequent final drafting of the document. Some of the practical suggestions that reiterated were: train the laity in Salesian Spirituality and charism so as to ensure better collaboration from them in our ministry, better our collaboration with the government agencies to tap the resources allotted for the upliftment of the poor and the backward people, more confreres to be trained in Salesian studies, etc.

To lighten the serious and strenuous nature of the Chapter, there was a Volleyball match in the evening played between Karnataka and Kerala regions. Though the Kerala team had illustrious players like Fr. Joe Kokkandam, Fr. Tom Kuzhipala, Bro. Paul, Bro. Josh etc, the Karnataka team under the captainship of Fr. Provincial emerged winners.

The day came to an end with the evening prayer, and the goodnight talk by Fr. Augusty Pulickal, missionary from Nepal.
