Don Bosco PYaR (Programme for Young at Risk), in collaboration with SSL Law College, CHILDLINE Nodal Centre, organized Independence Day celebration for the marginalized children at the Public Garden, Gulbarga. In his inaugural address, Prof. K.S. Bagale, Principal, SSL Law College, Gulbarga expressed that children are the wealth of the country; they are the present and the future of our nation. He exhorted the children to pursue their education and become responsible citizens in the country. “Freedom is not a licence to do whatever we want but it should urge us to do good for our fellow beings”, said Fr. MA John, Director, Don Bosco PYaR.

Enlightening the minds of his peers, Ramu, a mainstreamed child labourer, currently pursuing his studies at Independent PU College, Gulbarga said that education adds dignity and confidence to one’s life. Fr. Prasad, Project Director, Don Bosco PYaR, Prof. Lingaraj, SSL Law College, Ms. Vijayalakshmi, District Coordinator, CHILDLINE, also spoke on the occasion. More than eighty children and the staff members of Don Bosco PYaR participated in the programme that included competitions, games and party songs.
