KANNADAMBE CMRC (Community Managed Resource Centre), one of the branch offices of CHITHRA Don Bosco, celebrated the Women’s Day in a grand and fitting manner on 20th March 2010 in the presence of many dignitaries and hundreds of Women and Youth SHG members. Sri. M. Chandrappa (MLA of Holalkere Kshetra) was the chief guest and inaugurated the celebration. Other dignararies like Fr. C.M. Jose (Rector, Don Bosco Chitradurga), Mrs. Sofia Banu (Pnachayath President, Doddalgatte) Sri. Govindappa (Manager, PG Bank), Fr. Manu (Director, CHITHRA – Don Bosco), Mr. Somashekar (Panchayath Member, Kalkunte), Mrs. Umapathi (Manager, VSSN Bank) and BOD members were also present for the celebrations. The honourable MLA, Mr. Chandrappa, thanked and congratulated CHITHRA – Don Bosco for its dedicated service to the poor and under privileged sections of the society especially women for the past 14 years. He also promised his help and support for the upliftment of women especially by making available the Government Resources. In a concrete way he said that he will make available the government funds for building houses for the homeless. On this occasion Fr. Jose spoke and motivated the women to participate in the Grama Sabhas, to get elected to the Grama Panchayath as members and to send their children particularly, the girl children, to the school at least up to SSLC and not to engage them in Child Labour. A total number of 1035 women took part in the celebration. The celebration came to a close with the lunch provided for all the participants.

CHITHRA Don Bosco, the social development wing of the Chitradurga Don Bosco Society, is working for the past 14 years in the District of Chitradurga for the poor and under privileged sections of the society. At present we are working in 80 villages in the 3 Taluks of Chitradurga District, i.e., Chitradurga, Hiriyur & Bharamasagara.

Kannadambe CMRC is situated 23 Kms from Don Bosco. This CMRC caters to 20 Villages in 6 Grama Panchayaths of Chitradurga Taluk. Under this CMRC we have 5 Evening Tuition Centres, 5 Children’s Clubs, 4 Bosco Kids Unit, 5 Youth Clubs, 3 Young Farmers Clubs, 5 Youth SHGs, 75 Women SHGs, 25 Men SHGs and 3 Destitute Groups. We also run 2 Tailoring Centres and 1 Computer Centre. Through this CMRC we are able to cater to 4000 families.
