70th All India Cooperative Week celebrated at CHITRA Don Bosco
On 10th November 2023 CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga held a significant and community-oriented meeting for SHG members at CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga. Rev. Fr. Steven Lawrence SDB (Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga) was the president of the programme. Mrs. Padmakshi (Prosperous woman, DS halli, Chitradurga), Mrs. Asha (SHG member, Pandarahalli) & Mrs. Sudha (SHG member, Hireguntanur) were the guests who adorned the stage. Mrs. Anthony Theresa (Programme Coordinator of Chithra Don Bosco, Chitradurga), SHG animators of Chithra Don Bosco namely Mr. Sannaningappa, Mr. Somalingappa, Mr. Jayanna and Mr. Mahanthesh and 65 women participated in the programme. Mrs. Anthony Theresa accorded a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and all the participants.
Rev. Fr. Steven Lawrence emphasized the importance of cooperatives for women, youth and weaker sections. He encouraged group activities beyond just taking loans. The celebration aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of cooperatives in addressing socio-economic challenges and the need for income-generating activities through cooperation. He also highlighted the significance of women working together, not just for financial support but also for mutual empowerment. This year National cooperative Union of India is organizing 70th All India cooperative week with the main theme “Role of Cooperatives in Making India a $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs”.
Mrs. Padmakshi shared her employment experiences and the challenges she faced initially, emphasizing the value of persistence in achieving success. The interactive session allowed women to seek clarification on various aspects. Mr. Mahanthesh addressed the gathering and said about the serious issue of child marriage, providing insights into its detrimental effects, legal consequences, fines and preventive measures.
The meeting concluded with gratitude expressed by Mr. Jayanna to all attendees.
