Social work students of Kottiyam release short film; takes anti-dowry pledge
Kottiyam: The BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) students of Don Bosco College, Kottiyam prepared a 17 minutes short film titled ‘Death of Themis’ dealing with the theme ‘dowry’. The film scripted and directed by the first batch of BSW students of the College was shot amidst challenging constraints related to covid protocols.
Ms. RIthumanthra, cine artist and model released the short film through online. She congratulated the students for their creative and committed efforts and recalled her own days as a student at Don Bosco College, Angadikadavu where she got opportunities to do similar works. “Don Bosco institutions are special. They have the magical power to bring out the best in their students”; she said.
“This is our very first batch of BSW students. It is commendable that they have come out with a creative venture, taking a lot of risks”; Said Dr. Y. Joy, the Principal of the College.
Dr. Boby Kannezhath, the Rector and manager of the College, appreciated the students for choosing such a relevant theme for their short film. “The anti-dowry pledge that you take today in the light of the short film that you produced should be a game-changer in your life.” He reminded. Fr. Binny Manuel, the vice-principal of the College who extended production assistance to the students challenged them to come out with more such productions, especially those with socially relevant messages. Fr. Joby Chethimattom, the Head of the department of social work who also did a cameo in the film appreciated the staff especially Mr. Shabin and Ms. Arya, and the BSW students for the discipline and commitment with which they went about executing the short film production.
Over 100 students who were part of the online program of short film release took anti-dowry pledge on the occasion.
