Skilling Catechists ends successfully for Salesian Family at Bangalore

A catechists’ training programme organized by SPCSA (Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia) for the Salesian Family of Southern provinces of South Asia was  held at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bengaluru from 7 May 2023 to 11 May 2023. A total of 20 participants from various Salesian family groups of South India participated. There were SDB, FMA, SMA, MSMHC, ASC, VDB and Catechists from Salesian Parishes. This Training programme was the second one of the Commission for Salesian Family at SPCSA. Sr. Christine MSMHC, the main coordinator of these events had already executed one for Northern provinces at Shillong in April 2023. The Bangalore event was organised by Fr. Gilbert Choondal SDB in the name of this commission.

            There were eight topics dealt during this programme, namely, Christian parenting and tips for family catechesis, group dynamics, Social Media Skills, Eco-Catechetical Skills, Youcat Skills, Gospel Magic Skills, Preparing Lesson Plans and Praying methods.  “All the topics were inspiring, innovative, informative and interesting,”  said, Mr. John Victor, the Salesian Cooperator from INM. The resource persons were expert in their own field. It was a “do and learn” programme.  “As we move on, we have learnt confidence to implement all that we have absorbed into our respective provinces and settings,” expressed Sr. Siji MSMHC while she presented the impressions of the participants.

            On the final day, Sr. Padmini FMA read  the 5-point Action Plan to take forward the skills in their own setting.  Fr. Jose Koyickal, the Provincial of INK and one of the coordinators of Commission for Salesian Family at SPCSA thanked the participants and the main programme organizer, Fr. Gilbert. The participants profusely thanked the Provincial Community at various moments of the final day for their warm hospitality. It was a family experience for them!
