Don Bosco PYAR, Gulbarga honoured for efforts in child rescue and rehabilitation

The World Day against Child Labour was observed on 12th June 2025 at Appa Public School, Goa Hotel, Kalaburagi. The event was organized by the District Administration and the District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Labour Department, District Child Labour Scheme Society, Children’s Helpline (1098/12), Appa Public School, and various departments, voluntary organizations, and Don Bosco also played a key role in organizing this programme.
The event was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Shri Srinivasa Navale. Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Kalaburagi, T. Fauzia Tarannum, Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner of Kalaburagi and President of the District Child Labour Society, presided over the program. Shri Vishwaradhya Ijeri (President, District Child Welfare Committee), and Shri Basavaraja Deshmukh (Secretary, Sri Sharanabasaveshwara Society, Kalaburagi).
An oath was taken by all attendees to reaffirm their commitment to the eradication, rescue, and rehabilitation of child laborers. In her address, DC Fauzia Tarannum emphasized that World Day Against Child Labour is not a day to recognize child labor, but a day to observe, reflect, and act against it. She stressed the collective responsibility in ensuring every child’s right to a safe and dignified childhood.
A highlight of the event was a skit on child labor performed by children from the Belur(J) Supplementary Education Centre, run by Don Bosco Society Gulbarga. The skit was highly appreciated by the DC and the audience for its impactful message.
The Don Bosco Society Gulbarga was honored for its commendable efforts in child rescue and rehabilitation.
The event concluded with renewed resolve and collaborative spirit among stakeholders to eliminate child labor from the district.
