PALS 2026: Empowering Young Leaders Through Faith, Learning, and Community

On the 5th and 6th of September, an inspiring event brought together around 80 youth leaders and 10 Salesians from various Salesian communities across the Karnataka region. This gathering took place at the Don Bosco Provincial House in Bangalore and was part of the PALS (Programme for Animators, Leaders, and Salesians) organized by Don Bosco Youth Services, Karnataka.

The inauguration program was a significant highlight, presided over by Fr. Biju Michael, the Regional Councillor for South Asia. He delivered a powerful message to the youth, focusing on the importance of leadership. His speech was both motivational and enlightening, urging the young leaders to embrace their roles with responsibility and enthusiasm.

Fr. Jose Koyickal, the Provincial, addressed the gathering, congratulating the organizers for their efforts in creating such an opportunity for young leaders to unite and grow. His words acknowledged the dedication and hard work that went into organizing the event.

The event was graced by several other distinguished Salesians, including: Fr. Shalbin, the Vice Provincial. Fr. K.O. Varghese, the Youth Ministry Delegate, Fr. Joy, the Economer, Fr. Devassy, the Rector of Don Bosco Provincial House. Their presence added to the significance of the gathering and provided further inspiration to the youth leaders.

Over the two days, the youth participated in various informative and engaging sessions. These sessions covered important topics such as: Proper Usage of Social Media: Educating the youth on how to use social media responsibly and effectively. Mental Health: Raising awareness about mental well-being and strategies to maintain it. Emotional Hygiene: Highlighting the importance of managing emotions for personal growth. Leadership Qualities: Exploring the skills needed to be an effective leader.

Team Building: Encouraging collaboration and unity among the participants.

These sessions were designed to equip the young leaders with the necessary tools and knowledge to lead effectively in their communities.

In addition to the educational sessions, the participants had the chance to visit Don Bosco Mithra School and Don Bosco College. These visits included engaging in sports and participating in cultural activities, providing a balanced mix of learning and leisure.
