Don Bosco Youth Centre Celebrates Teachers’ Day with ‘Guruvandanam’

Kollam: Don Bosco Youth Centre, Mundakkal, organised ‘Guruvandanam’ in connection with Teachers’ Day, honouring teachers for their valuable contribution to society. The programme also marked the distribution of membership cards to members of the Youth Centre.

Fr. Benjamin Pambackal, Parish Priest of Thope, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Prof. Manohar D. Mullassery, Principal of Fatima Mata National College, Kollam, was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, he stressed the importance of nurturing a warm, respectful and meaningful relationship between teachers and students.

Teachers were honoured at the function under the leadership of Mr. Abhilash Joseph, Chairman of the Town Planning Standing Committee, Kollam Corporation. In his address, he highlighted the importance of instilling respect and gratitude towards teachers among children and young people.

The gathering also felicitated Mr. Abhilash, a member of the Youth Centre, for his commendable service in the Kollam Corporation, and Mr. Aji, on his selection as coach of the Kollam District Sub-Junior Football Team.

Fr. Abhilash, Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre, Fr. Saji, Fr. Antony, and Mrs. Beatrice also addressed the gathering.

Around 80 young people participated in the programme.
