PRATHIBHA PAYANA – SPEECH COMPETITION AND TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

On 12th September 2026, CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, organized a speech competition for the children of the Evening Study Centres under the title “Prathibha Payana” at CHITHRA Don Bosco. Along with the speech competition, a Teachers’ Day Celebration was organized to appreciate and honour the dedicated teachers of the Evening Study Centres.
The programme was organized with the aim of providing children with a platform to showcase their talents, develop confidence in public speaking, improve their language and communication skills, and foster leadership and social awareness. The Teachers’ Day celebration provided an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the valuable contribution of the Evening Study Centre teachers.
Inaugural Ceremony
The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony. Rev. Fr. Arun Chemplanikal, Director, CHITHRA Don Bosco, Dr. Dhanakoti, Professor, Don Bosco Degree College, Mrs. Shwetha, Teacher, Don Bosco ICSE School, Mrs. Sumithra Bai, Teacher, Don Bosco ICSE School, Mr. Jayanna, Marketing Consultant, WELivE Project and SHG Animator, Mr. Bommanna, Teacher, Konapura Evening Study Centre, were the dignitaries who inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.
Ms. Rakshitha, MINDS Project Counsellor, CHITHRA Don Bosco, warmly welcomed all the dignitaries, teachers, staff members and children to the programme.
Keynote Address
Following the inauguration, Rev. Fr. Arun Chemplanikal, Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, delivered the keynote address. He encouraged the children to utilize the opportunity provided through Prathibha Payana to showcase their talents and express their ideas with confidence.
He emphasized that such platforms help children overcome stage fear and develop communication, leadership and decision-making skills. He also highlighted the importance of encouraging children to think positively and become responsible citizens who contribute to the development of society and the country.
Speech Competition
After the inaugural ceremony, Mrs. Anthony Theresa, Programme & Communication Coordinator of CHITHRA Don Bosco, coordinated the speech competition. She explained the topic of the competition and briefed the children about its objectives and the importance of effective public speaking.
She provided the participants with useful guidance on the important points to be considered while delivering a speech. The children were guided on:
• How to understand and present the topic clearly
• How to organize their thoughts
• How to begin a speech effectively
• The importance of confidence and proper body language
• Clear pronunciation and effective use of Kannada
• Voice modulation and appropriate expression
• Maintaining eye contact with the audience
• Time management
• How to conclude a speech effectively
Mrs. Theresa also explained the evaluation criteria to the participants. The children enthusiastically participated in the competition and demonstrated their talents, creativity, confidence and ability to express their thoughts before an audience.
The competition provided a valuable opportunity for the children to overcome stage fear, improve their communication skills and develop greater self-confidence.
Games for Teachers and CHITHRA Staff
Following the speech competition, Mrs. Theresa conducted a series of fun and interactive games for the Evening Study Centre teachers and CHITHRA Don Bosco staff members.
The games created a joyful and energetic atmosphere and provided the teachers and staff with an opportunity to relax, interact with one another and strengthen team spirit. The participants actively took part in the activities and enjoyed the programme with enthusiasm.
Prize Distribution and Teachers’ Day Celebration
After the games, a prize distribution ceremony was held. Rev. Fr. Arun Chemplanikal distributed prizes to the winners of the various games.
As part of the Teachers’ Day celebration, gifts were presented to the Evening Study Centre teachers in appreciation of their dedicated service and commitment towards the education and holistic development of children.
The winners of the Prathibha Payana speech competition were honoured with medals and trophies, while participation medals were also presented to the participating children in recognition of their enthusiasm and efforts.
The prize and gift distribution served as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement for both the children and teachers.
Felicitation and Conclusion
The programme was further enriched by the presence and support of the CHITHRA Don Bosco team. Mr. Divakar, MINDS Project Coordinator, CHITHRA Don Bosco, was also present during the programme and supported the successful conduct of the event.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note with a delicious meal shared by the children, teachers, dignitaries and CHITHRA Don Bosco staff members.

The Prathibha Payana Speech Competition and Teachers’ Day Celebration was a meaningful and memorable programme that brought together children, teachers, staff members and dignitaries in a spirit of learning, appreciation and celebration.
