Don Bosco College Hosts Bike Rally for Road Safety Month & Unveiled the Logo of SODASHI 3.0
Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, in collaboration with the Police Department, Motor Vehicle Department Wayanad, and SIGHT Wayanad, successfully organized a bike rally on 15th January, 2025. This event celebrated National Road Safety Month and featured the unveiling of the logo for Sodashi 3.0, the college’s upcoming intercollegiate fest.
The rally commenced with an inauguration by Mr. Taposh Basumatary, the Chief District Police of Wayanad. In his address, he stressed the critical importance of road safety, highlighting the alarming number of lives lost due to reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. “Every life is precious,” he remarked, urging participants to adopt responsible driving habits. He also expressed his best wishes for the Sodashi 3.0 fest, set to take place on the 22nd of this month. Sumesh P.R., RTO Wayanad, took the stage to provide essential instructions on safe driving practices.
He emphasized the importance of using safety gadgets, such as helmets and reflective vests, which are crucial for ensuring the safety of riders during the rally and beyond. His insights reinforced the event’s mission to promote a culture of safety on the roads. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Dr. Shajan Noronha, SDB, who commended the collaborative efforts of all involved in organizing the rally. “This event not only raises awareness about road safety but also fosters a sense of community among students and local authorities,” he said.The rally attracted approximately 600 participants, with 300 motorcycles making their way through the streets of Sulthan Bathery, showcasing a robust commitment to road safety within the community.
The enthusiastic turnout highlighted the engagement of the youth in advocating for safer roads. Student coordinators Ajay Ramesh and Mubashira P., alongside union members, played pivotal roles in the organization of this event. Their efforts not only contributed to the success of the rally but also promoted camaraderie and a sense of responsibility among participants. As the rally concluded, it served as a powerful reminder of the vital role each individual plays in ensuring safer roads for everyone. The collaborative spirit of this initiative sets a positive example for future community efforts aimed at enhancing road safety awareness.
