Don Bosco College, Mampetta, leads ₹DruGKicK@2k26 anti‑drug drive in Kozhikode

Don Bosco College, Mampetta, in collaboration with Kozhikode Corporation, the District Legal Services Authority (Kozhikode), the Indian Medical Association (Kozhikode), and GRAMINN Non‑Profit Organization, observed an anti‑drug and illicit‑trafficking awareness campaign today under the banner “₹DruGKicK@2k26” in Kozhikode town on 26th June.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. O. Sadashivan, Mayor of Kozhikode, who urged the public to remain vigilant against drug abuse and support rehabilitation efforts. Mr. Biju M. C., Senior Division Civil Judge, and Dr. Sandya Kurup, President of IMA Kozhikode, spoke on the legal and health consequences of substance misuse. Ms. Reena Varghese, Director of GRAMINN, and Fr. Martin Augustin, Manager of Don Bosco Institutions, Kozhikode, also addressed the gathering. Fr. Shino Joy, Finance Manager of Don Bosco College, Mampetta, and numerous volunteers and students were present.

Fr. Jenson Variyath, social outreach coordinator, organized a range of public engagement activities, including a signature campaign, a football shoot‑out and on‑site drug screening for members of the public. More than 1,000 people participated in the day‑long programme.
Organisers said the campaign aimed to raise awareness about the harms of drugs, promote community vigilance against illicit trafficking, and connect affected individuals with support and treatment services. They also emphasized the role of youth and educational institutions in prevention and early intervention.
