Begun in 1984 as a Youth Centre, DBIT developed into an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in 1987. Later, in 1996, the Computer and Management Studies were started. At present, the institute also functions as a Study Centre affiliated to the University of Madras for all UG and PG Courses. The Government of Kerala granted permission to start a college in 2005. Don Bosco Arts and Science College which began in 2005 is affiliated to Calicut University and offers courses such as BBA, B. Com, BCA, B. Com Finance, B. Sc Electronics, B. Sc Computer Science, M. Sc Electronics, M. Com.

At Don Bosco Arts and Science College, we strive to achieve the total development of youngsters and transform them into honest citizens and persons of faith. We provide University education needed to meet the challenges of the times. Education can never be divorced from the larger patterns of life. We at Don Bosco believe that Education should help people lead better lives, earn a better income, and take them up the rungs of the ladder in society. It should give them the strength to understand and cope with the hard realities of life, thus paving the way for fulfilment in life. With this end in view, Don Bosco College leads all the students, regardless of the branch/course selected, through an integrated course on the science of creativity and personality development.

Regular games and animation programmes are organised for the youth of the locality by the youth centre.
