Don Bosco Davangere began in 1996 with a non-formal school for the school dropouts. A special school for child labourers was initiated in 1998.
In 2000, at the request of the Bishop of Shimoga, St. John Bosco mission station comprising of 20 families was given to the Salesians to meet the spiritual needs of the people.
Another centre for the rehabilitation of child labourers in Alurhatti was inaugurated in 2002.
Apart from catering to the young at risk, Don Bosco Davangere is actively involved in various community development activities such as training programmes to Gram Panchayat members, teachers, SDMC, SHGs, Youth Groups and sanghas.
