Don Bosco involves in rescuing and rehabilitating children in begging.

On August 13, 2025, a joint operation for the rescue of begging was conducted in Afzalpur taluk of Gulbarga by the District Child Protection Unit, Child Helpline, Social Welfare Department, Don Bosco Institution, Margadarshi Institution Kalaburagi, Child Development Project office Afzalpur, and police staff of Gangapur & Ghattaragi. The operation aimed to protect children involved in begging in areas including Gangapur temple in Kalaburgi. At Gangapur temple, 4 children accompanied by 2 mothers (Nagamma and Jayrashi) were found begging. The children – Anitha (4 months), Roopa (5 months), Anamika (5 months), and Sujata (8 years) – were rescued. The rescued children were presented to the District Child Welfare Committee and admitted to the Government Girls Home. The mothers were admitted to the State Women’s Home.
