Begun in 1981 on 10 acres of diocesan land donated by Bishop Jerome Fernandez, the then Local Ordinary of Kollam, the Salesian work started as a non-formal Technical Training Centre for school dropouts of the coastal parishes, especially those of Thope and Kumbalam. Salesians began to reside in the premises in 1984. From 1987 to 1998 the house also served as an aspirantate to the Brotherhood. In the same year, 1998 COMIDE approved a project to build a full-fledged Technical School with 3 trades viz., Electronics, Electricals and Computers, to the pre existing Carpentry trade and Driving School. The technical school was closed down and a regular college was started to provide higher education to the youth of the locality. In 2014 the college was affiliated to the Kerala University and approved by Kerala Government as a regular college. The community also looks after the pastoral requirements of 40 Catholic families belonging to Kottiyam parish. A youth centre with about 60 boys is active.
