The Church of Mary Help of Christians and a Shelter for the Needy Youngsters of the Locality
  • Diocese of Trivandrum
  • Establishment Year 1995
  • Parish

The Salesian presence in Thiruvananthapuram began in 1991, with an aim of reaching out the underprivileged youngsters of the place, especially the street children who were exposed to many social atrocities. Later on, the Salesians were also given charge of the Church of Mary Help of Christians which currently functions as a full-fledged parish with regular liturgical services, Parish Council, BCC units etc. The Salesian mission is also carried out through Don Bosco Veedu and Don Bosco Nivas which primarily renders service for the deserving youth of the neighbourhood. A regular street presence to locate and bring to safety children and adults who are left alone on the streets is well set up. The rescued children are rehabilitated and ongoing support is given to them to come up in life.
