Don Bosco Mysore initially began as an aspirantate for the region of Karnataka from 1992 to 1997.

From June 1997 it was established as the pre-novitiate house and aspirantate was shifted to Tumkur. The formation centre with its serene ambience, adequate infrastructure, well-qualified priests and well-planned curriculum is very conducive for the purpose of preparing the candidates for the Salesian life to discern their call and prepare them to enter the novitiate. The pre-novices are also offered the opportunity to carry out youth ministry in the neighbouring villages.
