DREAM Kasaragod observes International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
DREAM Kasaragod conducted a campaign on June 26th, 2022, Sunday at Pallikara beach, Kasaragod, as part of observing the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking from 4 pm onwards.
The programme started with a welcome speech by Ms. Keerthipriya, DREAM Counselor. Fr. Sunny Thomas, Director of DREAM Kasaragod, presided over the function. The programme was inauguarated by Mr. M. Kumaran – President, Pallikara Grama Panchayath. The district-level launching of the DREAM Project and the keynote address were delivered by Mr. C.K Sunil Kumar – DySP, Bekal Police Station. Mr. Vipin. U.P – Inspector of SHO, Bekal Police Station, and Mr. Abraham. O. A, Head Master of Holy Family Higher Secondary School, Rajapuram, delivered the felicitation speech. Mr. Aji Thomas – DREAM Social Worker, proposed the vote of thanks. DREAM Coordinator Ms. Sangeetha took the role of M.C of the programme.
After the inaugural session, the Don Bosco students performed an action song under the guidance of Team DREAM. The SPC of Govt. Higher Secondary School Thachangad conducted a flash mob. Sri. Balachandran Kottody (JC Daniel Excellency Award Winner – 2021) put up a magic show to generate awareness to the public about the consequences of drug usage. It was followed by the flying of kites, inaugurated by Sri. Vaibhav Saxena IPS, Superintendent of Police.
A signature campaign was also undertaken by the team and it was inaugurated by Mr. C.K Sunil Kumar – DySP of Bekal Police Station. During the programme brochures were distributed to the public to create awareness about the issue.
The programme was witnessed by a great number of people who had come to the beach. The programme came to a conclusion by 7.00 pm.
