‘Drug-free Childhood for a Healthy Future’
Anti-drug rally by the Children of Snehabhavan
In association with the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations, the inmates of Sneha Bhavan institutions, who are rescued from the streets and drug peddling, organized an anti-drug campaign rally, with their mouths covered to Thoppumpady Town Kochi, on 2nd October at 4.00 pm. Basing themselves on the theme: ‘Drug-free Childhood for a Healthy Future’, they promised ‘not to use drugs’ in their life time.
The rally which began by paying homage to Gandhi, was flagged off by Mr. George, the Sub-Inspector of Police, Palluruthy. As the programme coordinator Fr. Abhilash Palakudiyil, the Director of Bosco Nilayam, welcomed the gathering, while Fr. P D Thomas, the Executive Director of Don Bosco presided over the function. Mr. K K Shaju, the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee of Ernakulum delivered the keynote address. The anti-drug pledge was led by Fr. Jose Pathickal, the Director of Sneha Bhavan. Mr. Job Thottukadavil harked back to Gandhi on his Birth Anniversary. While Fr. C M Jose and Fr. Rony felicitated the gathering, the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Joepaul. The entire event came to a conclusion by creating a symbolic tree against drugs by the participants.
