Empowering minds initiative by Don Bosco College Youth Centre, Mannuthy

The Don Bosco College Youth Centre in Mannuthy successfully concluded its “Empowering Minds” program, an outreach initiative dedicated to providing essential study materials to underprivileged students in six schools around Mannuthy under the leadership of Fr. Rubin Kunnakkattu SDB, youth director Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. Driven by the Salesian ethos, this project aimed to bridge the educational resource gap, foster community service among youth, and strengthen local educational ties. The program’s positive impact was widely acknowledged by schools and beneficiaries alike, highlighting its contribution to educational equity.
Recognizing the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged students, the Youth Centre mobilized its members for a comprehensive collection, organization, and distribution effort. Key objectives included identifying student needs, conducting a widespread collection drive, meticulously sorting and packaging materials, and personally distributing them during school visits.
The initiative successfully gathered a diverse range of study materials, benefiting approximately150 deserving students. This direct educational support alleviated financial burdens and enhanced learning environments. The program also significantly fostered youth empowerment, social responsibility, and stronger community relations. While logistical challenges were noted, the “Empowering Minds” program stands as a testament to youth-led initiatives addressing critical social needs, inspiring continued efforts towards a more inclusive educational landscape.
We are profoundly grateful for God’s presence guiding our endeavors. We also deeply appreciate the significant sacrifices made by all our youth center members, whose dedication was instrumental in actualizing this dream project.
