First-Year Theology Students Present “In Search of Magic” At KJC; Two Books Released
Bengaluru, January 31, 2026
Kristu Jyoti College hosted an evening of theatrical performance and scholarly celebration on Friday as first-year theology students presented the drama “In Search of Magic,” in the college auditorium. The 6:00 pm event drew religious communities from the vicinity of KJC along with friends and benefactors of the institution.
The evening commenced with the release of two significant publications from KJC Publications. The first, “The Concept of Paradigm Change in Thomas Kuhn: With a Special Reference to Laudato Si’,” is authored by Fr. Sunil Jose sdb, Faculty in the Department of Philosophy and Secretary of the Social Service Guild at KJC. The work examines Thomas Kuhn’s influential theory of paradigm shifts in dialogue with Pope Francis’s landmark encyclical on ecology and integral development.
The second release, “Into that Heaven of Freedom: Prayer Services for a Nation’s Journey,” authored by Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil sdb, offers a collection of contextual prayer services reflecting on India’s contemporary aspirations and challenges.
Following the book release, the first-year theology students presented “In Search of Magic,” a theatrical narrative framed through the pedagogical lens of Don Bosco. The drama tells the story of three struggling friends (Peter, Martin, and Matthew) who pool their limited resources to purchase a “magical white suit,” believing it will bring them success, confidence, and romantic fulfillment. Through humorous and poignant scenes, the narrative explores their journey from materialism to discovering that true magic lies not in external possessions but in the strength of authentic friendship and the goodness within each person.
The production incorporated music, choreography, and dramatic action, showcasing the creative and formational dimensions of theological education at KJC. The drama’s central message resonated with Don Bosco’s foundational educational principle that “there is a point of goodness in each of you,” emphasizing the importance of recognizing inherent human dignity and the redemptive power of genuine relationships over superficial success.
The evening reflected KJC’s commitment to integrating scholarly excellence with creative expression in the formation of future priests and religious leaders.
