Fostering Hope: CHITHRA Don Bosco Partners with Police for Foster Care Awareness in Chitradurga
A Foster Care awareness program for police officers was organized at Police Training School, Imangala, Hiriyur Taluk, Chitradurga, in collaboration with CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, and the Police Department of Imangala. Mr. Manjunath, Foster Care Mobilizer of CHITHRA Don Bosco, explained that the adoption program falls under the purview of the Women and Child Development Department. It is essential to note that illegal adoption constitutes a crime under Section 81 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Those engaged in trafficking of children can face imprisonment for up to 5 years and a fine of up to 1 lakh.
Foster Care is designed to provide a temporary family for children who are considered orphans by law and lack family care. Its primary objective is to ensure a proper upbringing and adequate nutrition within a family system. Information about children available for Foster Care is shared with families and parents interested in the Foster care Plan.
