Free Tailoring Training for Women Inaugurated at Don Bosco ITI Bhadravathi

Bhadravathi, 25 September 2026:A Free Tailoring Training Programme for Women was inaugurated at Don Bosco ITI, Bhadravathi, on 25 September 2026. The programme is designed to provide women with practical tailoring skills, enhance their employability, and promote economic self-reliance through skill-based training.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp in the presence of the chief guests and participants. The event was attended by Mr. Selvaraj and Mrs. Philomena, whose presence encouraged the participants and highlighted the importance of vocational training for women.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Nilagal Christhu Raj SDB, Director and Principal of Don Bosco ITI, Bhadravathi. In his address, he emphasized the importance of skill development in empowering women and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. He encouraged the participants to make the best use of the training and develop the confidence needed to become financially independent.

The three-month training programme has been launched in collaboration with Akshayashakti Welfare Society, Mumbai, whose logo was displayed during the event. The partnership aims to make quality vocational training accessible to women, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

During the programme, Ms. Shalini, the tailoring trainer, was introduced to the participants. She will provide practical and hands-on training throughout the course, covering various aspects of tailoring, garment construction, and basic entrepreneurship skills.

The event also featured cultural performances by the participants, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and celebration. Don Bosco ITI students and new students attended the inauguration and expressed their eagerness to acquire new skills that could help them secure income-generating opportunities.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of Don Bosco ITI Bhadravathi and Akshayashakti Welfare Society, Mumbai, towards women’s empowerment through vocational education. By equipping women with marketable skills, the programme seeks to foster confidence, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods within the community.
