Healthcare at the Doorstep: Eye Screening and Medical Camp Held in Garoor (B)

A Free Eye Screening and Cataract Surgery Identification Camp was successfully organized on 18 June 2026 at the Government Higher Primary School, Garoor (B), Kalaburagi. The programme was conducted through the joint efforts of Don Bosco Mobile Clinic, Kalaburagi, Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust, Kadaganchi, Anugraha Eye Hospital, Kalaburagi, District Blindness Control Programme, Kalaburagi, Office of the Taluka Health Officer, Kalaburagi, along with the active support of Gram Panchayat Members and school teachers.
The camp aimed to provide accessible healthcare services to the rural community, with special emphasis on eye care, early detection of vision-related problems, and general health screening. A team of qualified doctors, ophthalmic staff, health workers, and volunteers participated in the programme and ensured smooth implementation of all activities.
During the camp, comprehensive eye examinations were conducted for the beneficiaries. Individuals suffering from cataracts and other eye-related conditions were identified and counseled regarding further treatment and surgical interventions. Necessary referrals were provided to eligible patients for advanced eye care and cataract surgery.
Simultaneously, the Don Bosco Mobile Clinic Team conducted general health check-ups for the villagers. Basic health assessments, including screening for common illnesses, blood pressure monitoring, and health consultations, were carried out. Free medicines were distributed to patients based on medical advice and their health conditions.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community. Awareness was also created regarding the importance of regular eye examinations, early diagnosis of eye diseases, personal hygiene, and preventive healthcare practices.
A total of 87 beneficiaries availed themselves of the services provided during the camp. The initiative proved highly beneficial in addressing healthcare needs at the grassroots level and contributed significantly towards promoting community health and preventing avoidable blindness.
The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to all partner organizations, healthcare professionals, Gram Panchayat members, school authorities, volunteers, and community members whose support and cooperation made the programme a grand success.
The camp successfully strengthened community awareness about eye health and general healthcare while ensuring that essential medical services reached the rural population.
