Humanitarian aid from Don Bosco Organization to 350 Flood-Affected Families — Distribution of Food Grains and Household Kits on November 6
In the month of September, due to the overflow of the Bhima River, several villages of Wadagera Taluk in Yadgir District experienced severe flood crisis. Especially in the villages of Arjunagi, Budihal, Shivanur, and Naikal, water entered the houses of about 350 families, damaging daily household items, destroying livelihood materials, and forcing the families to take temporary shelter in relief camps.During this time of humanitarian crisis, Don Bosco Social Service Centre, Yadgir, in collaboration with BREADS Organization, Bangalore, visited the flood-affected families. To support these families, the distribution of food grains and essential household kits was undertaken. Accordingly, the distribution program was held today in Shivanur village.Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Shabu Francis, Director of Don Bosco Social Service Centre, Yadgir, said:“When you were staying in the relief camps during the Bhima River flood, after visiting you, we tried to share in your hardship and explained your situation to our higher authorities and requested relief support. However, there was a delay in getting permission and release of the funds. Even though it took almost a month, we did not give up and obtained the support. Today, we have come to your village to carry out the distribution of food grains. Our staff and volunteers studied the real situation by personally visiting the flood-affected villages and identified the families who were truly in distress. Based on their needs, kits worth approximately ₹4000 per family have been prepared, which include rice, wheat flour, oil, salt, sugar, bathing soap, dish-washing and house-cleaning liquid, and other essential household items. Our hope is that this may help your families at least to some extent.”On this occasion, Wadagera Taluk Executive Officer Mr. Mallikarjun Sangawar spoke and said:“The Don Bosco organization is devotedly engaged in serving the poor, the helpless, and families affected by natural disasters. They collected information from the Wadagera Tahsildar office, conducted their own survey, and have now come here themselves to distribute the kits. This is a commendable initiative. The villagers should receive this assistance peacefully and make proper use of it.”He appreciated and expressed gratitude for the service of Don Bosco. Also present on the occasion were Vishnu from Wadagera Police Station, Don Bosco Social Service Centre staff members Sharanappa Amarapur, Mallikarjun Gurukundi, Nagappa Gamaga, Devendrappa Bandalli, Suryakanth Koiloor, Bagesh, Albert, Anganwadi workers, Gram Panchayat members, and local leaders including Venkatareddy Gowda, Mallanagouda, and others. The villagers expressed gratitude to Don Bosco Organization and BREADS Organization for this humanitarian support.
