INAUGURATION OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR at Don Bosco Seminary, Aluva
The inaugural ceremony of the new academic year at Don Bosco Seminary, Aluva was held on June 1st, Thursday 2023. The ceremony began with the Solemn Mass of the Holy Spirit presided over by Rev. Fr. Jose Koyickal, the provincial and concelebrated by the other members on the staff. In his homily, Fr. Provincial stressed on the importance of post-novitiate period which has intellectual formation as its chief characteristic aspect. He invited the staff and students to be docile to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and earnestly grow in the gifts, fruits and charisms of the Holy Spirit.
After the Holy Eucharist, the community gathered in the auditorium for the formal inaugural function. Rev. Fr. Joy Kaipan, the Rector of the Don Bosco Aluva welcomed the gathering and exhorted the students to make use of numerous opportunities to grow in the intellectual formation. It was followed by the presentation of the annual report of the academic year 2022-23 by Fr. Dilip Gnanaprakash, the principal. He particularly commented on the rich cultural variety in the institute this year as it is blessed with 25 students from five Salesian provinces (INK, INN, IND, ING, INS) of India. Rev. Fr. Provincial in his keynote address emphasized on the importance of philosophical studies in priestly formation to secure for one’s own personal faith the rational basis of scientific worth which will match one’s intellectual attainments. He also released the handbook & calendar for the academic year 2023.24. The programme marked its conclusion by 12.30 pm.
