International Child Rights Day celebrated at Don Bosco Gulbarga
International Child Rights Day was organized at the Mother Teresa Hall, Kalaburagi, with an engaging and informative program aimed at promoting children’s rights and raising awareness on child welfare. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including representatives from government and non-governmental organizations, community leaders, and numerous children.
Dignitaries Present: The program was graced by several esteemed guests who contributed to the event’s success: Mr. Hanumantaraya Kardi – President, District Child Welfare Committee, Kalaburagi, Mr. Sharanappa Hali – District Labor Officer, Mr. Santosh Kulkarni – Child Labor Project Director, Shri Bharatesh LPO – District Child Protection Unit, Mr. Basavaraj – Coordinator Child Helpline, Fr. Vijay Martin – Rector, Don Bosco, Mr. Dattatreya and Mr. Chandrakant Bhimalli – Panchayat Member, Members of the Caring Community Group, Meera Bhai HM, LPS Sayad Chincholi Cross, Fr. Kuriakose – Director, Don Bosco and Child Rights Club Members
Inauguration: The celebration began with a prayer dance, setting a positive tone for the day. The official inauguration was marked by the lighting of the lamp, followed by the release of the Child Safety Net Project banner, and Mrs. Geeta, Coordinator, explained about the concept of Child Safety Net and role of various stake holders in implementing it and thus launched the project at the district Level
Mr. Hanumantaraya Kardi spoke about the vital role of the District Child Welfare Committee in advocating for children’s rights and the various laws in place to protect them.
Mr. Sharanappa Hali, District Labor Officer, informed the participants, particularly the children, about the Child Labor Prohibition Act, emphasizing that all children should remain in education and out of child labor.
Dance Competition: Children from 12 Govt. Schools participated in a vibrant dance competition, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm.
Total 350 children were involved in this program representing various educational institutions.
Drawing competition on the theme School and Environment was conducted in 12 Govt. schools were we have intervention program.
Exhibition of Painting Competition: An exhibition was held displaying the art created by children from various tuition centers. The artwork, which included painting, drawing, and dance, was the result of a month-long preparation.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks. The guests and all those who contributed to the organization of the event were acknowledged and honored with mementos from the Don Bosco as a token of appreciation.
The event saw participation of over 350 children, project staff members, and the Caring Community Group Members. The enthusiastic involvement of children and the collective efforts of the community ensured the program was a success.
The program was an occasion to bring together children, children of Child Rights Clubs, Govt. Officers, from key and vital Departments like DCPU, DWCD, Child Line, District Labour office, Education, SJPU and CWC.
The International Child Rights Day celebration was a memorable occasion, raising awareness about children’s rights and child protection laws, while also providing children with a platform to express their creativity. The program was a collaborative effort that highlighted the importance of educating children, preventing child labor, and fostering a nurturing environment for their growth and development.
The efforts of the Don Bosco Organization, the Caring Community Group, and all participating members in organizing the event were greatly appreciated.
