Don Bosco Bhavan, Mannuthy, is an aspirantate (Junior Seminary) of the Province of Bangalore. It began as an apostolic school in 1971 with the purpose of providing vocations to the provinces of Madras, Calcutta and Guwahati . To this effect, a High School sanctioned by the government of Kerala was also started in the same year. From 1995 the practice of accepting high school students was discontinued. At present candidates who have completed SSLC are accepted.
The institution prepares young candidates who are doing their higher secondary studies and those desirous of becoming priests and religious to dedicate themselves to the service of less privileged youth following the example of Don Bosco.
The Institute (ICSE and State Syllabus) imparts Primary and Secondary Education with due emphasis laid on the integral development of the personality of the children, especially the poor of the locality, to form them into responsible citizens who appreciate whatever is good and noble in the multi-cultural aspects of Indian life. It educates the young to be promoters of justice and peace in the manner of Christ following the virtues of faith, hope and love. The well-organised curriculum promotes intellectual maturity and excellence in the academic, cultural, social, mental and physical streams.
The care for young people by way of Career guidance, leadership and personality development programmes as well as recreational activities is well organised through the youth centre.
