The Salesian mission at KGF began in 1993 when St. Joseph’s parish, Susaipalyam along with an Upper Primary Tamil medium school and technical school was handed over in perpetuity to Salesian.
The majority of the catholic population comprises of poor, mostly from Tamil Nadu. Various developmental programmes, self-employment training, Upper Primary Tamil Medium School and social services are organised to address the problem of poverty and unemployment.
Don Bosco Technical Institute, recognised by NCVT, offers formal and non-formal courses to students along with boarding facilities. In addition to this, there are short term certificate courses along with a Welding and Fabrication centre.
