Launched #We4Her on March 8 the International Women’s Day
Gender inequality remains enshrined in laws, policies and norms around the world-denying girls and women the equality that is their birthright. It’s against this backdrop that Integrated Development Society has launched a campaign #We4Her: An Innovation for Gender Equality. It’s an incitement to ubiquitous gender discrimination and the daring activists striving to realize the promise of equality for all. It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum not as two opposing sets of ideals and we want everyone to take up this mantle of support for #We4Her. Obviously, Integrated Development Society Alappuzha (IDSA) is an integrative and associative non-governmental organization started a few months ago and the more spoken and worked about gender equality the more we have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing we know for certain, it is that this has to stop. For its one-year commitment, equipping and empowering women and girls with educational tools and resources to take on leadership roles to eradicate gender bias from our society via Listening to the voice and decisions of diverse youth leaders, creating inclusive partnerships and linkages to build We4Her movement, conducting targeted trainings for both men and women, Initiate public education to break the bias on gender. The event was inaugurated by Thomas Meckattuparambil SDB the executive director of IDSA together with staff and volunteers. As the token of education and awareness of the project the event was concluded with a musical band.
